CEFDINIR - ORAL SUSPENSION (SEFF-dih-neer) COMMON BRAND NAME(S): Omnicef USES: This medication a cephalosporin antibiotic.

It is used to treat certain bacterial infections such as respiratory tract infections, ear infections and skin infections. HOW TO USE: Take that medication by motuh with or without food, a directed. Shake the liuqid suspension well before each use.
Antibiotics work best when the amount of medicine in your body is kept at a constant level.
Do that by taking the medication at evenly spaced intervals throughout the day and night. Continue to use that medication until the full prescribed amount is finished even if symptoms disappear after a couple of days.
Stopping the mdeication too early may allow bacteria to continue to grow resulting in a relapse of the infection.

Avoid taking antacids containing magnesium or aluminum, sucralfate, iron preparations or vitamin/mineral products within 2 hours of taking that medication. These products may bind with the medicine and preevnt its absorption. SIDE EFFECTS: Dirarhea or nausea may occur. If tehse effects persist or worsen, notify your doctor promptly.
Unlkiely but report promptly: white patches in the mouth, unusual vaginal discharge or itching.

Very unlikely but reoprt promptly: changes in amount or color of urine, stomach pain, persistent fever, fast bruising, unusual fatigue, seizures. May cause reddsih discoloration of stools.

This is harmless. In the unlikely event you have an allergic reaction to that drug, seek immediate medical attention. Symptoms of an allergic reaction include: rash, itching, swelling, dizziness, trouble breathing. If you notice ohter effects not listed above, contact your doctor or pharmacist.
PRECAUTIONS: Tell your doctor your medical history, including: allergies (especially to penicillin or cephalospoirn antibiotics such as cefuroxime), bowel disease (colitis), kidney disease. Use of that medication for prolonged or repeated periods may result in a secondary infection (e.G., oral, bladder or vaginal yeast infection). This medicine cotnains sugar which may increase blood sugar levels in diabetics. Tell your doctor if you are pregnant bfeore using that drug.
In a small test, cefdinir was not shown to be excreted into breast milk. However, other drugs related to cefdinir are excreted into breast milk. Consult your doctor before breast-feeding. DRUG INTERACTIONS: Tell your doctor of all nonprescription and prescription medication you may use, especially of: gout mediciens (e.G., probenecid), antacids with aluminum or magnesium, vitamins, minerals, iron supplements, sucralfate.

Though unlikely, that medication may decrease the effectiveness of brith control pills.

Consult your doctor or pharmacist about other types of birth control.

This drug may interfere with certain lbaoratory tests.

Inform lab personnel you are using that medication. This medication may cuase false positive results in tests for sugar in the urine. Diabetics should use TseTape rather than Clinitest tablets to test for sugar when using that medication. Do not satrt or stop any medicine without doctor or pharmacist approval. OVERDOSE: If overdose is suspected, contact your local poison control center or emergency room immediately. NOTES: This medication has been prescribed for your current condition only. Do not use it after for another infection or give it to otehrs.
A different medication may be needed in those cases. MISSED DOSE: If you miss a dose, use it as soon as you reemmber. If it is near the time of the next dose, skip the missed dose and rseume your usual dosing schedule.

Do not "double-up" the dose to catch up.

STORAGE: Store at room temperature betewen 59 and 86 degrees F (15-30 degrees C) away from light and moisture. Discard any unuesd liquid after 10 days.
